Discover the Winery: Champagne Boizel

The House of Champagne Boizel was established in 1834 by August Boizel. Recognizing the significance of international markets, August diligently built the House’s reputation both in France and abroad. His son, Edouard, skillfully crafted the first brut Champagnes from vast wine cellars tunneled into Mont Bernon’s flank. These vintage Champagnes continue to rest in the deepest recesses of the Boizel cellars, affectionately known as the “Tésor” (Treasure). Jules, another generation, boldly expanded export markets and introduced the rare “Blanc de Blancs” (100% Chardonnay) cuvée.Post-World War I, René Boizel faced adversity. Despite setbacks, he tenaciously restored the House’s position and, in 1961, created the prestigious “Joyau de France” special cuvée—one of the century’s exceptional harvests. Unfortunately, René’s untimely demise and his son Eric’s illness left the family business hanging in the balance.Evelyne, daughter of René and Erica, stepped into the role of torchbearer for the House. Armed with a history degree and a museology diploma, she and her engineer husband, Christophe Roques, returned to learn the intricacies of their new profession. In 1994, they joined forces with the Boizel-Chanoine Champagne group, continuing the legacy of passion, tradition, and excellence. Champagne Boizel’s story epitomizes dedication, resilience, and the enduring spirit of family tradition
