Discover the Winery: The Lane Vineyard

The Lane is one of the most exciting wine estates in Australia today. This boutique winery is the brainchild of well-known Aussie winemaker John Edwards, whose long-term dream was to make distinctive wines with all the exuberance of Australian-grown fruit yet classic ‘old world’ structure. It was in the early 1990s that John finally pinpointed the site, high in the Adelaide Hills. The style and quality of The Lane’s exceptional wines is the result of a combination of factors; cool temperatures (for Australia at least!), ancient gravel/limestone and clay soils, meticulous vineyard work, and sensitive winemaking melding ‘old world’ approaches with hi-tech winery wizardry. In 2005, at the end of the (now discontinued) Starvedog Lane joint venture with Hardys, Helen and John Edwards, and sons Marty and Ben, commissioned a state-of-the-art 500-tonne winery, bistro and cellar door overlooking their vineyards on picturesque Ravenswood Lane. Today The Lane Vineyards produce a range of stunning, focused wines that will surely propel the estate to be one of Australia’s future icons.
