98 points, Robert Parker

A blend of the 2015 and 2014 vintages, Egly's emblematic NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères was disgorged this year with only one gram per liter dosage. Bursting with aromas of mirabelle plum, Anjou pear and green apple mingled with notions of freshly baked bread, honeycomb and praline, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, its satiny attack segueing into a deep, layered mid-palate of striking texture and concentration. Concluding with a long, intensely saline finish, it's another brilliant wine from a great producer at the top of his form. Drink 2023 - 2043.

  • Tannins:Refined and integrated, providing a subtle textural grip that contributes to the wine's complexity and length rather than overt astringency.
  • Acidity:Vibrant and laser-focused, a hallmark of Egly-Ouriet's style and the chalky terroir, providing exceptional freshness and a mouthwatering lift that balances the wine's richness.
  • Sweetness: Dry

Tasting Notes: On the palate, this Champagne unfolds with layers of complexity. Expect aromas and flavors of ripe red berries such as wild strawberry and raspberry, interwoven with notes of white peach and a hint of blood orange. As the wine opens up, subtle nuances of brioche, toasted nuts, and a distinctive chalky minerality emerge, a clear signature of the 'Les Crayères' terroir. The extended lees aging contributes a creamy texture and further enhances the wine's depth and aromatic complexity. The finish is exceptionally long and persistent, leaving a lingering impression of freshness, minerality, and the delicate fruit character.

Discover the Winery: Champagne EGLY-OURIET

The history of Champagne Egly-Ouriet dates back to the late 18th century when the Egly family began cultivating vineyards in the Montagne de Reims region, known for its prime Champagne terroir. However, in the 20th century, the estate gained recognition under the leadership of Francis Egly, who took over the family business in the 1980s. Champagne Egly-Ouriet is known for its dedication to traditional and meticulous winemaking methods. They focus on producing single-vineyard, vintage Champagnes, emphasising terroir expression and each vineyard parcel’s unique characteristics. The estate owns and manages vineyards in some of the most prestigious areas of Champagne, including Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzenay, and others. These Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards are known for their high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, the primary varieties used in Champagne production. Champagne Egly-Ouriet has embraced biodynamic farming practices, prioritising organic and sustainable agriculture. These practices aim to enhance the overall health of the vineyards, improve grape quality, and reflect the unique terroir in the final wines. The winery follows a minimalist approach in the cellar, using natural yeasts for fermentation and avoiding excessive manipulation of the wines. This approach allows the grapes’ natural characteristics to shine through in the final
